Exodus 1-3

Abraham handed the mantle of the covenant to Isaac before he died. Isaac had two sons, Esau and Jacob. Esau was a loner like a Wolfe; he did things without consulting his father or mother. But Jacob was connected. He good rapport with the parents more than his brother, Esau. A loner will always miss good opportunity, unlike a connect and friendly person. Esau lost the opportunity to receive the mantle of the covenant. Jacob got it. The moment Jacob got through good connection, the attention of heaven shifted to him. We need to understand this truth, beloved; heaven will always back up the carrier of his covenant. This is the reason Christians are the most blessed on the face of the earth; not in terms of earthly treasures, but of heavenly treasure.

Luke 18:22 “Now when Jesus heard these things, he said to him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.”

Christians are Christ’s followers who have sold all. They are not friends with the world but custodians of heavenly covenant in Jesus Christ which He established by the shedding of His blood on the Cross of Calvary.

Jacob, in like manner, did not charge one person with the covenant, but all his sons. The moment the transfer was made and they were blessed, Jacob’s chapter closed. But Joseph came on the scene. He only preserved the lives of the custodians in time of famine. His role was recognized in Genesis 50. All his children were the tribes that made up the nation of Israel.

Genesis 49:28 “All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.”

The nation of Israel started with seventy-three souls that came out of the loins of Jacob; seventy came into Egypt with him, while Joseph and his two sons were already living in Egypt.

These three chapters narrated separate events:

Chapter 1: the birth of a nation and the slavery

Chapter 2: The birth of a deliverer and his agony

Chapter 3:  The birth of the rescue; a divine encounter

The faithful God manifested in the existence of Israel as a nation. He increased them in an amazing way in all aspect of life. I’m sure, the growth was not only in terms of births, but in wealth. Mind you, the words, prosperity, rich, wealth are synonymous. They could have different implications. The nation of Israel had all in their various definitive thoughts. The scripture use a phrase to summarize their status, “waxed exceeding mighty”

Exodus 1:7 “And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.”

To avoid unnecessary exaggeration in describing them, the scripture further expressed its description as, “the land was filled with them”. Can you imagine a nation which started with only seventy-three souls now overwhelming the host nation? Logically, we could assume that the economy and security of the nation of Egypt was in their hands because the fear of the King was that the nation of Israel could join forces with other nations to fight for their freedom from the land.

Exodus 1:8-10 “Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. 9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: 10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.”

The remark by the new King who knew not Joseph stirred up racial discrepancy in Egypt, “the people of the children of Israel…”. This is prejudice and it prompted or birth racial torment, affliction, oppression and murder. The unfortunate thing is the ignorance of Pharaoh. He thought the people were the ones increasing. He was ignorant that it was the covenant of Abraham that was speaking. Let’s look at the trend of this covenant briefly.

After God entered covenant with Abraham, in the face of affliction, he was blessed and where he trod, unusual blessings were evident. Isaac also had similar experience. In famine, he sowed and reaped abundantly. The people of the land entered a covenant with him because they believed that God was with him. Jacob in the house of Laban was equally cheated, yet he prospered and waxed great. That was the same thing in the hand of Joseph wherever he was. Now the nation of Israel became a blessing to the land of Egypt. A genuine covenant of God speaks anywhere; no matter the persecution, torment, affliction, condemnation or oppression. As a matter of fact, the covenant becomes valuable in the face of all these. Any man of God in sure covenant with God, the whole world may condemn such, his ministry prospers. Such don’t engage in any rivalry with other ministry but remain focused in maintaining a good relationship with the giver of the covenant. People may not understand such ministry, yet it grows amazingly.

The nation of Israel was faced with hardship and racism, yet they prospered.

Exodus 1:12 “But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.”

My sincere prayer is that you divine uplifted will multiply the sorrow of your haters in the name of Jesus.

The covenant was so strong that it stayed the sword of death of the midwives; instead of hatred, they loved and respected the nation of Israel. They got their reward for their kindness towards the nation of Israel.

Exodus 1:20-21 “Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied and waxed very mighty. And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.”

When you show kindness towards a ministry ordained from heaven, you get your reward. The reverse is the case if you condemned such ministry. Before you condemn, watch out.

It is unfortunate that these days, churches are the ones rising against one another. This is weakening the power of the church on earth and this is the reason there is not power to stand against the works of the enemy against the church; THE CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM FIGHTING EACH OTHER. The church is no more one but cliques against one another. Prejudice in the church; one church clique claiming superiority over the other. The educated ones are condemning the less educated ones. In fact, the standard of calling is now the level of education you have. It is good to be educated, but recognition must first be given to the covenant. The education is human idea you have read to understand. But calling is the covenant of God in you as the treasure in earthen vessel.

2 Corinthians 4:7 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”

The power should not be in the excellency of the power of the acquired degree but of the indwelling Spirit of God. That treasure is what gives value to who you are. The only thing that feeds such treasure to fatness is grace; a good relationship with God through His word.

The church needs to go back to old time religion of the demonstration of power and of spirit. Everything that is of the spirit does not have contentions or rivalry but LOVE. With oneness, the church cannot be silenced. The church is bondage and slavery of worldly knowledge which is killing them, Hosea 4:6. Perversions are being tolerated in the churches. THE CHURCH IS A NATION THAT MUST RULED BY THE WORDS OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.

The nation of Israel needed a rescue. They cried unto the Lord and God heard their cry; a deliverer was born. The law promulgated by Pharaoh, which was supposed to curb the increase of the nation of Israel became a good platform for the deliverer to survive.

Exodus 1:22 “And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.”

Exodus 2:2-3 “And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months. 3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.”

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Because of the covenant, the mother of Moses still received wages for nursing her own child. The moment you accommodate the ark of the Lord in your house, you will be blessed.

As human beings, we are prone to making mistakes. Moses made a racial mistake in defending the oppressed. He killed the oppressor in anger which made him run into exile. Yet, it was for good.

Everyone of us will go through one agony or the other. All we need to pray for is grace. Moses was treated like a king’s son until the time for supernatural training was due. If you are a covenant child, you must go through the Almighty’s training. This is not the same as the education you acquired; but the one supervised by God. The number of years spent in the training depends on the level of your submission. If God earmarked a three-year training for you, no matter how brilliant you are, it cannot be reduced, but could be extended to as many years as you are broken for use. Submission and obedience is the goal for God’s training. The period of training is the process of time; a pruning moment to prepare for fruitfulness and growth.

God heard the cry of the Israelite in the process of time which Moses was undergoing training in the wilderness.

Exodus 2:23-25 “And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. 24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.”

Hear me, beloved, we come to this world individually well packed by God. For the package to be delivered appropriately, there must be a dealing by God. This enhances brokenness for the release of the virtue within us. That which came to this world with us what adds value to our lives, and it is the purpose of our individual existence. That virtue is to solve a problem. The breakthrough is in discovering the purpose. And this only happens in divine encounter. The Lord, Himself, defines the purpose to us as in the case of Moses and Jeremiah.

Chapter three is the graduation of Moses from his training into the world of his assignment. There is a dream you must dream and there is a vision you must see. That is your burning bush. The purpose is to receive the definition of your assignment and be empowered for it.

Moses received his on Mount Horeb, the mountain of the Lord, in the desert. For as long as one has not seen this GREAT SIGHT, one remains in the desert of life; working for others

Exodus 3:1-3 “Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. 2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.”

May the Lord call your destiny out from the desert of life into the open where you will be celebrated in the name of Jesus Christ.
