January 24, 2019 DAY 24 A VERSE OF THREE EVENTS
Isaiah 50:6 “I gave my back to the smiters (the scourge), and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair (the coronation): I hid not my face from shame and spitting (the shame).”
There is a truth we must know, understand and, of course, accept as a rule of life. That truth is that, the path to realizing destiny is very rough, unpleasant and full of rejections. Destiny is a heavenly agenda. The earth will always fight against it. Jesus’ path to achieving the purpose of His walk on was very rough. He didn’t come for the miracles and he didn’t come to judge the world but for the truth to be revealed and life to be given to the dead spirits. In realizing this, John 18-20 clear described the horrifying path He took which His Father never gave Him any alternative. This is a message to all of us that, to realize destiny, there is only one path which might be horrifying and unwilling to ply. In essence, not every hardship should be rejected but submitted to; especially when it sounds obviously inevitable. When the wicked has not the rod of torture in his/her hand, the wicked will always seek for another authority to deal with you. Therefore, all manners of prayers to confuse any evil agreement are needful. Joseph could not escape his path; no alternative. Daniel could not escape his; the king could not help him even though he knew Daniel was a righteous person.
There was no law to crucify Jesus before the Jewish authority. He was transferred to Pilate before whom no offense was liable to Him. Pilate could not help Jesus. In the chamber of Pilate, three things happened to the Lord Jesus.
- He was Scourged
- He was Shamed
- He was Coronated
Jesus did not work out these events, but the events were already preordained unequivocally going by the prophecies before He walked on earth.
Isaiah 50:6 “I gave my back to the smiters (the scourge), and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair (the coronation): I hid not my face from shame and spitting (the shame).”
THE SCOURGE
To scourge is to subject to punishment by whipping, lashing or switching. It is to subject to trial or curse. It is to torment or torture. This was the first event in the chamber of Pilate. This was actually an act approved by Pilate just to save Jesus from the death demanded by the Jews. Efforts of men are useless when it comes to fulfilling heavenly agenda. Though man still stands as an instrument of actualizing the agenda, he cannot do anything in the flesh to help a man in fulfilling destiny.
THE SHAME
This is to humiliate and embarrassed. This is the same as being chastened. It is to take dignity away from a person. It is to strip a person of honor and debase him.
Mark 15:19-20 “And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshiped him. 20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.”
In His shame, he received spits. He was stripped naked and he was ridiculed. They despised His dignity and shamed His claim as the one that came from heaven.
THE CORONATION
I have come to realize that the world has no good to offer. I have come to realize that the world would stand to mock your destiny if you told the world about your destiny; remember Joseph was mocked by his brothers about his dream. They called him the dreamer. I have come to realize that the world would work hard to decorate a person’s destiny with the crown of thorns and curses. The hand work of men is horrible and wicked. I have come to realize that what the world gives, it takes from you to shame you. I have come to realize that the glory of your life is not in what the world gives, but in the gift from above; hence seek for the things from above.
Just because Jesus reiterated severally that He was not of this world but from above, He was mocked of His claim by knitting the crown of thorns and putting on Him a purple robe.
John 19:2 “And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, … 5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith to them, Behold the man!”
In the chambers of Pilate, three events took place to fulfill the prophecy of one verse.
My gain is Jesus fulfilling this particular verse, Isaiah 50:6.
The scripture had prophesied His submission and my gain.
Isaiah 53:3-7 “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.”
On His path to destiny, He bore the following:
- Rejection
- Sorrows
- Grief
- Despised
- Smitten of God
- Affliction
- Wound
- Chastisement
- Oppressed
- Curse
- Unbearable torment and torture
All these just for me and you.
