MAN’S OPINION IS A BLIND SPOT

Bible In One Year-Day 251 (Monday, September 8, 2014)

Commentary: Job22-24. Man has his opinion and God has His plans. The opinion of man, no matter how religious it is, cannot perfect God’s plan which is the final stage in everything. Jesus revealed God’s plan concerning His coming to the earth to His disciples but Peter used his opinion to reject God’s plan for Jesus.

MLB Matthew 16:21-24 From then on Jesus began to show (reveal) His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer much from the elders, priests and scribes, and be killed, and raised on the third day. Then Peter, leading Him aside, began to remonstrate with Him: “Mercy on You, Lord; this must never happen to You!” But, turning around, He said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan, you are a snare to Me; for you are not taking the divine view but man’s.Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to walk after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow Me;”

Peter stood on man’s point of view from which Satan used him without knowing. The warning afterwards was that whoever wants to follow Jesus must drop his or her view and just follow His words or instruction. Many Christians are doing just like that today; they use human wisdom to view God’s plan and His word. This has led a lot into error.

Mark 12:24 And Jesus answering said to them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures (God’s instruction and plan), neither the power of Godl (life and irrevocable truth)?”

Hebrews 3:10 “Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.”

Job’s friends eloquently presented their case but because they stood on man’s view point, they greatly err. They accused Job of wronging God in his ways of life.

Job 22:4-5 Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment? Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?”

They missed it because of their standpoint of view. When man starts putting the wisdom of man into God’s word rather than being led by His Spirit, power departs from that word spoken. When man starts using the plan of man to achieve God’s agenda, he will deviate from God’s map.

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

Job’s friends’ statements looked godly, but they were actually empty words because God was not in it. When you look at peoples’ problems to prophesy without asking what the Spirit actually says, Satan can use that to put a curse or seal on the victim. Job’s friends couldn’t differential between trying times and judgment times; they wrongly concluded because they were standing on the blind spot. Man’s opinion in God’s agenda is a blind spot which can result into serious crash. Peter stood in that spot and he became an offense to the Lord. Job’s friends also stood there and they became offenses to Job. From their points of view, Job’s life was tending towards untimely death.

MLB Job 22:15-16 “Will you keep to the old way which wicked men have walked, who were untimely snatched away, their foothold washed out by a deluge?”

Unlike his friends, Job’s point of view was in the attributes of God, the giver of hope and life in difficult times and most merciful who will rescue from destruction by the abundance of His grace.

Job 23:8-10 Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”

Though Job was troubled and discomforted on every side, God was working for him by grace, yet not seen. A man of destiny must be TRIED, TESTED and APRROVED.

1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

It could be rough, beloved, there is hope.

Psalms 42:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”

When you lay aside man’s opinion and embrace God’s instructions, you will eventually realize that God’s plan includes what you are going through. The plan of God for Joseph included the pit, Potiphar’s house and the prison. This path perfected him for the dream he had. To get there, watch out for the blind spots.

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Job25-27. Keep the fire of burning and alive.
