Bible In One Year-Day 278 (Saturday, October 05, 2013)
Commentary: Psalms101-105. The works of a man’s hand determine if such is tagged as wicked before the Lord or not. Such may look innocent outwardly, only God can judge the inward agenda. People may identify with what a man is doing outwardly, God recons only with the inward state. Whatever a man does outwardly is marked by the inward motive in the presence of the Lord. What people accept might have been rejected by God; He has nothing to do with the works of wickedness.
Psalms 101:3-4 “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.”
The things that can make God to reject the work of a man include:
- Ideas from a perverse heart.
- Secret slanders of neighbors.
- Haughty look
- Proud heart
- Works of deceit.
- Telling lies.
No matter how good a man’s dispensation is, for as long as the motive takes root in these, it shall be rejected.
Jesus put it in a better form;
Luke 14:12-14 “Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”
As earlier discussed in the previous commentaries, God is not in search of the best, but the faithful. He is the one that makes one fit as the best by His Spirit and the truth remains that the best is yet to come. Man could mark and grade, but God does the final marking. To be faithful means to be committed to using what you have been given faithfully.
Psalms 101:6 “Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.”
Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Psalms106-110. Keep the fire of burning and alive.
