Bible In One Year-Day 198 (Wednesday, July 17, 2013)

Commentary: Proverbs13-15. From our reading we could see that the ruin of a lot of people is the mouth. Many lives would have been preserved and fulfill destiny if not for the diarrhea of the mouth. Parents, or even we, might have described our destinies to the enemy at one time or the other.

Proverbs 13:3 “He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.”

There was this unnamed man in 2Samuel1:1-16 whose mouth killed. He did not kill Saul but he claimed to have killed him thinking that would fetch him favor and honor. A lying mouth and untamed tongue are death unto the owner. When you see a wise man, he acts with knowledge unlike the foolish who acts before thinking.

Proverbs 13:16 “Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.”

A rich man with untamed tongue is poor and a powerful man with unbridled tongue is naked. The Bible encourages us that if we do not see the lips of knowledge in somebody, regard such as a fool and you have to do away from such. Those you move with tell more of who you are.

Proverbs 14:7 “Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.”

One of the ways to notice a fool around is that he or she mocks at sin, i.e. he or she does not consider sin as harmful but that it is part of life; unlike the wise that fears and departs from evil.

Proverbs 14:16 “A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.”

Seek wisdom and understanding for there is not any other path to life.

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Proverbs16-18. Keep the fire burning and alive.

Proverbs 15:33 “The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.”
