Bible In One Year-Day 295 (Tuesday, October 22, 2013)
Commentary: Isaiah25-28. Whenever God is prepared to gladden a man’s heart to the dismay of his adversaries, He sets the person at the table of assorted splendors. Not only that, but on a mountain top.
MLB Isaiah 25:6 “On this mountain the Lord of hosts shall make for all peoples a feast of rich food; a feast of well aged wine, of rich beef full of marrow; a feast of old wine well refined.”
David’s experience in this wise is expressed in Psa23.
MLB Psalms 23:5 “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my adversaries; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup runs over.”
There are two sides to trials and difficult times; your faith is put to test and the enemy is prepared for shame. A Christian should remain steadfast in his faith to God in all situations because when the day of the Lord comes it would be like a dream. In times of trial, the hand of the Lord is working out things beyond our imagination. Though the trying time could be painful, it is a moment in which God’s hand is filling you with spiritual power to be able to confidently eat at the table to be set before you in the presence of the enemy. To eat before the enemy, you need the anointing. This anointing comes through the pains of the trials.
1 Peter 5:10 “But the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”
The hand of God never stops working until it gets to the mountain of rest where a buffet is set for His own who endures to the end. The Lord’s buffet is His settlement to those who remain steadfast through thick and thin. The Lord’s buffet is the joy that comes in the morning after the night’s weeping and crying. It is the glory that comes after suffering. It is the testimony that cannot hide itself after many retreats. It is the likeness of Joseph’s dream fulfillment. It is the promotion of Daniel in the land of Babylon. It is the elevation of Mordecai after the book of remembrance was opened.
In order to get to that set table of the Lord’s buffet, remaining steadfast in faith is non-negotiable. This means ‘DON’T GIVE UP’; rather keep the fire burning and alive.
Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Isaiah29-32. Keep the fire of burning and alive.
