PRAYER MUST MATCH THE PROBLEM

Bible In One Year-Day 269 (Thursday, September 26, 2013)

Commentary: Psalms56-60. These chapters deeply narrated the experiences of the Psalmist in the hands of the enemies. These enemies comprises of not only the little ones but the mighty ones.

Psalms 59:3-4 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD. They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.”

The weapon of attack is likened to the poison of a snake and the manner of operation is like a deaf Cobra; i.e. hears not any sound that could scare it away but it is totally given to destroying the target. The enemies ran 24/7 because of the psalmist, Psalm56:2.

However, there is a cogent lesson we need to learn in his experience and that is, the more the enemies increased the more he prayed.

Psalms 55:16-17 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.”

The psalmist also engaged in praying three times a day to match the enemies’ attack. This is God’s standard.

Isaiah 59:19 “So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.”

Your prayer must match your problem and even beyond. You must not pray less and complain more. Rather, pray more and complain less. The psalmist is so confident that there is nothing any man could do to help him but his relationship with God must not be stained.

Psalms 60:11-12 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

There is no help in man but in God; to Him belongs mercy, glory and honor. AMEN.

Psalms 56:10-11 In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word. In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.”

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Psalms61-65. Keep the fire of burning and alive.
