TESTIMONY OF ‘NO CONTENTION’

Bible In One Year-Day 284 (Saturday, October 11, 2014)

Commentary: Psalms126-130. Testimonies are of different levels. There are some in which you have to let people know about it, otherwise there will be no news of it. There are some in which you are counted just as one of them. And there are some that cannot be hidden; it announces itself and spreads like fire. For  this kind of testimony, God is in it; it is in His time and there is no argument whether it is of God or not.

Isaiah 41:20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.”

This is a testimony of ‘no contention’; though it goes with some pains and discomforts. The people of God experienced this in Psa126.

Psalms 126:1-3 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”

The suffering of God’s people always ends in rejoicing. Their torments always end as values. Though people may mock them in their affliction, the same people will praise God in their exoneration. This is the testimony of God’s people. What people say in your affliction shouldn’t bother you. What you need is just for God to send His word to you; once you receive His word, there will be dramatic change of situation that will put laughter in your mouth. May the Lord bless your days with His mercy and your years with His glory, IJN.

Psalms 128:1-6 Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD. The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.”

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Psalms131-135. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

THE MOUTH AND THE WISDOM

Bible In One Year-Day 283 (Friday, October 10, 2014)

Commentary: Psalms120-125. If the problem of the tongue is removed amongst men, the world would be in unimaginable peace. Though little in the body, it is the greatest problem of man. on the other hand, it is a great blessing to man.

James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!”

James 3:9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.”

Either way, it depends on how you use it.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

As little as it is, it can cause great havoc to human’s future and ruin a generation. The tongue carries enormous power and this is why the devil takes advantage of it in the life of the ignorant. When you search the scripture, you will see that in most places where God promised to be with His own, He says “I will be with thy mouth”

Exodus 4:15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.”

There are two major demons that uses the tongue; the LYING spirit and the CURSING spirit. When these demons take over, nothing of blessing comes out from such mouth; even that which seems good could be coded curse. Be careful which prayer you say ‘amen’ to. If a mouth has a cursing spirit, for example, and he prayed for you “you will make it to America”, it is a coded curse if the will of God for you is UK. Your saying ‘amen’ is accepting the coded curse.

James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”

Many lives have been ruined by unruly tongues. When a demonically anointed tongue becomes your enemy, you need to pray to God as the psalmist prayed in Psa121.

Obviously, this was the predicament of the psalmist in Psa120.

Psalms 120:1-4 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.”

The psalmist was distressed by evil tongue. A tongue that is satanically ordained to become Satan’s prophet cannot be tamed; the tongue need deliverance.

James 3:7-8 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.”

Beloved, every born again Christian needs deliverance of the tongue as soon as he or she gives the life to Jesus. This will soften the tongue and help in using it appropriately. Many don’t know that even before the Lord, they need not be hasty in speaking; rather, they should be silent to hear him speak.

Ecclesiastes 5:2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.”

Even before the enemy, don’t be hasty, but listen to what the Holy Spirit has to say. The first stage in hearing the Holy Spirit is learning to be quiet before Him. As God was always with the mouth of His chosen ones in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit is always with the chosen ones in this dispensation of the New Testament.

Luke 12:11-12 And when they bring you to the synagogues, and to magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: For the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.”

Any mouth that God is not with, the devil will definitely be with it and such is a disaster to mankind. Deliverance purges the tongue, softens it and then God anoints it. this happened to Jeremiah and Isaiah. It is still happening now by the help of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus has promised to give us the mouth of the Spirit and the wisdom of the word.

Luke 21:14-15 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.”

This is the secret of an overcoming Christian. He first listens to the Holy Spirit. When he hears the Holy Spirit, he then speaks what he heard to the problem and without any further argument or delay, the problem gives way because the word he spoke is not his but God’s; Spirit and life.

The Apostles did not launch out to minister to people after the ascension of the Lord. They gathered in unity to pray and they received tongues of fire as baptism. This brought deliverance to their tongues. After the Holy Spirit had given them soft tongues, they launched out. Peter preached the first message without preparing it. Persecution could not stop them. Human restrictions could not stop them. Conspiracies could not stop them. They manifested Christ to their surroundings. Business was not as usual any longer. They dictated to their environment.

Acts 17:6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren to the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;”

When you receive a new tongue, your environment cannot ignore you any longer but submit to your dictation. Pray to God to soften your tongue with His fire.

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Psalms126-130. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

HOPE IN HIS WORD

Bible In OneYear-Day 282 (Thursday, October 09, 2014)

Commentary: Psalm119. The secret of the psalmist is, without any contradiction, his delight in the Word of God.

Psalms 119:9 “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.”

The heart of the psalmist was not independent of the word of God, but clung to the word and he meditates on it all the time. He loved to dig deeper into God’s word. He knew that he may read the word, it requires God to shine the light of His Spirit into the heart. This is understanding;

Psalms 119:34-35 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.”

With the word, God shapes our lives. With the word, He builds Himself into us. With the word, we war a good warfare. With the word, the Spirit helps us. With the word, the holiness and righteousness of God manifest in us. With the word, yokes are broken and deliverance obtained. With the word, light breaks through the darkness in our lives. With the word, we experience sanctification towards perfection. We need the word to be like Jesus. There is glory, power, riches, strength, honor, wisdom and blessing in the word. The word opens us up for divine presence. The word shields us. The word we are talking about is not that memorized but that which is memorized and live. When you hold the Bible in your hand, you hold a book. But when you regard the word in it by living it, it becomes holy and it upholds you.

Psalms 119:116 Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.”

The word of God must be rich in you. Then you become a blessing to people and a treasure to the poor in heart.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

In the morning and at night, His word is what you need. This was the practice of the psalmist.

Psalms 119:147-148 I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word. Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.”

God did not give us anything other than His Word to meet our need; He gave us only Jesus, the WORD.

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Psalms120-125. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

WHEN TROUBLE COMES

Bible In One Year-Day 281 (Wednesday, October 08, 2014)

Commentary: Psalms116-118. Though we read widely about the psalmist, we often quote his deep expression of words and sometimes admire the manner of his prasing the Lord, but little did we realized what he faced in life. His soul, legs, eyes and family were at various times endangered. In his expression of some of what he went through, he said “I found trouble and sorrow”

Psalms 116:3 “The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell (i.e. terrors of the grave) gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.”

It was in these various near-death experiences of the psalmist that he received deep things of God. If it was so, then when trouble comes we should rejoice in the Lord knowing that a greater revelation is about to unfold. Let us look at the benefits of the psalmist’s trials.

  1. He discovered how gracious God is, Psa116:5
  2. He realized His righteousness was uncompromising.
  3. He discovered God’s keeping power, Psa116:6.
  4. He lost pride and became humble, Psa116:6
  5. He found God’s help after putting on the garment of humility, Psa116:6.
  6. He realized that even in the heaviness of his heart, God was still good to him, Psa117:7.
  7. He came to experience God’s total deliverance, Psa116:8; deliverance is the act of rescuing the captive from the power greater than he. For a soul to be captured by death means the mind, emotion and will are captured by death. Therefore the legs will follow the path of death; this means, in essence, that the whole life has been captured or reaped by death. This was the situation of the psalmist just like the man of Gadarene. He could not help himself by his own effort. The deliverance of God was great grace to him. We could, in this view, define grace as having no human effort in miraculous achievement, but wholly God’s favor. Joseph’s ascension had no hand of man; only God glorified. This is what Christians should enjoy.
  8. The psalmist made a vow to be faithful since God is faithful, Psa116:9. He prayed in FAITH and he vowed to maintain his testimony by being FAITHFUL.
  9. He realized that man should not be relied upon because they are unfaithful, Psa116:11/ Psa118:8-9.
  10. He found God’s acceptance when men rejected him.
  11. He found God’s help and grace when men condemned him. Psa116:6
  12. He found out that the righteous death of the saint is very dear to God.
  13. He found salvation in his troubles, Psa11:13. Beloved, the cup of salvation is not the splendor of this world but the trial of our faith (i.e. suffering with Christ).

1 Peter 1:7 “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:”

  1. He made up his mind to live an uncompromising righteous life, Psa116:18.
  2. He found out that to unwrap the full benefits of God is in the breaking of the shell of troubles and sorrows, Psa116:12.
  3. He discovered that there is a fountain of praises in him which the enemy does not want him to release because it is God’s food to praise Him.

Psalms 116:17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.”

To every genuine Christian, there is always a song to sing at the other side of the Red sea and there is a holy music the world must hear from him to the glory of God. Therefore, when trouble comes and sorrow surrounds, look unto Jesus; there is a joy He wants to give you which no man can take away.

John 16:22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.”

Christianity is a unique relationship with God and not a religion. There is no promise of “no troubles, weeping, sorrowfulness of heart, etc” but there is a promise of divine intervention and gracious outcome of joy.

John 16:20 Verily, verily, I say to you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.”

For Christ to say “verily, verily,” means that we can’t escape troubles and its anchors. He (Jesus) experienced it (Mark14:32-42), we must exprience it. The beauty of it is that your experience will not end in death but in glory and exceeding joy.

1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”

This is the testimony of His saints. When trouble comes and sorrow surrounds you, rejoice in the Lord, watch and pray.

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.”

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Psalms119. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

TAKE PLEASURE IN HIS WORD

Bible In One Year-Day 280 (Tuesday, October 07, 2014)

Commentary: Psalms111-115. Many have the Bible but lack the insight to what it says. A lot see the miraculous and wonderful acts of God but very few ponder over it as to imagine His mightiness. The word of God is always with us but not a handful of people know it just as it was in the days of Samuel.

1 Samuel 3:1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious (i.e. not common) in those days; there was no open vision.”

Those who find the WORD were those who take delight in it. The psalmist hereby made it known that only those who take pleasure in God will study His work.

Psalms 111:2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.”

God does not work without His word. His works are based on His words. In His word are His thoughts, secrets and covenant. To know His thoughts, diligently probe His words. For you to know His secret, you need to fear Him. You must be humble for you to know and be in a covenant with Him. These are the reasons He remarked clearly that He honors His word more than His name. When you satisfy the conditions of His word, He will start by putting that word in you, then you can speak in His name.

Deuteronomy 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.”

Isaiah, received the word, Jeremiah also received and Ezekiel received the word. You must diligently seek His thought, fearfully probe His secret and prayerfully and humbly plug into His covenant through His word. This is the simple message of the psalmist in Psa111:2. The whole Bishops of this world could speak to you, it will not carry the thought, secret and covenant of God; it is only to guide you. The word that will carry the thought of God, His secret and covenant is that which you hear from God Himself. The prophecies are in parts according the word of God but the vision you receive directly from God is more detailed than the prophecy you received from any prophet. To get to this stage of deep relationship with God, according to the psalmist, you must take PLEASURE (i.e. delight) in His works and His words.

Psalms 112:1 Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.”

Psalms 25:12-15 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach (His thought) in the way that he shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth. The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.”

The psalmist got to this point through fervent prayer from the heart.

Psalms 25:4-5 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”

The mystery of God’s miraculous manifestation is always with those in covenant with Him through His WORD. His word must be in you before His name can be active in your mouth. His word is Him and it is His Spirit. God works in Jesus, and Jesus is in us as His Spirit; therefore, God is in you as His word; His word is Spirit and it is life. The residence of this word is not in the body but in the heart. If the heart isn’t pure, the pure word of God cannot be retained as life and Spirit.

Psalms 24:3-5 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Psalms116-118. Keep the fire of burning and alive.
