YOU ARE GOD’S THOUGHT

Bible In One Year-Day 301 (Tuesday, October 28, 2014)

Commentary: Isaiah 49-52. The greatest thing that can happen to a man is to know purpose. The greatest discovery is to find the course of life. The greatest breakthrough is to discover God’s thought. And the most satisfying position is to be established as a glory for the Lord.

Isaiah 49:5 “… yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.”

No one escaped into this world without an assignment and no one was given the grace to exist without being formed into the shape (spiritually) that depicts and reflects purpose. Also, virtues that will make that purpose to be are always embedded into everyone that manifests into this world.

Isaiah 49:2 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;”

God has sent us into the world for a purpose, i.e. with a divine errand. And when you come with a divine errand, you are a servant of God for as long as you continue in the assignment and remain the spiritual object He has made you. The man who invented a motor vehicle had a thought. This thought is what manifests as a vehicle. For as long as we have the vehicle as a vehicle, it remains the inventor’s glory. The glory is abandoned or removed if it is changed to a boat; it has become another person’s thought and the glory shifts. In this view, for as long as a man continues in God’s purpose and remain as God’s thought, he is glorious in His eyes and He will continue to strengthen and maintain such person.

The making of God’s thought into man is His glory. He wants people to see His work in and through man so that He can be glorified. If man now decides to abandon God’s thought for another, he loses the glory because God’s thought has been removed.

Isaiah 49:3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”

God cannot be happy for His thought to be given to another. There is nothing created that can suggest a better thought than that of God.

Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

God’s thought is a package, though hidden at the beginning; it becomes glaringly clearer as it matures. It is unseen at the beginning, but becomes clearly seen and realized at the end. Only Him knows the fullness of His thought and only Him plans the course for it.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

The reason people lose God’s glory is because they have shifted away from God’s thought and opted for another course through sin.

Beloved, you are God’s thought and you can only be glorious in His eyes and be strengthened if you remain in the center of His thought. This is the reason for Christ’s manifestation in this world; to destroy Satan’s thought and restore man to the original.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the demon; for the demon sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the demon.”

Sin is horrible; it removes God’s glory and reduces man. It changes the nature of man and takes him way from his rightful position. We need to run away from sin.

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Isaiah53-56. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

THE WINNING ANOINTING

Bible In One Year-Day 300 (Monday, October 27, 2014).

Commentary: Isaiah45-48. Before the Apostles could go out, Jesus warned them to wait and receive the anointing for the work. If they had not hearkened to Christ’s suggestion, their outreach would have been a disaster because the forces out there were insurmountable by any ordinary person.

Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.”

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.”

Without this empowerment, they would have been consumed by the powers that were. There is always the need for this empowerment before embarking on any spiritual work; otherwise, one would be exposing himself or herself to destructive danger.

These evil powers are not dead, beloved, but are still in vogue. As it was in the time of the Apostles, so it is now and just as they receive the winning anointing, you need to tarry to receive the winning anointing before you can plunge out for the work of the Master. This winning anointing does a great deal in the life of the genuinely called. It worked in the life of Cyrus, the anointed, as highlighted in the reading of Isaiah45:1-3;

Isaiah 45:1-3 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.”

Each time there is a special assignment, God anoints for that. In this instance of Isaiah45, God wanted to change power from the hand of the Babylonian king as He was working towards the fulfillment of His word for the returning of the Israelites to their land. Remember that it was God who empowered the Babylonian king to hold them captive and so it would require God’s higher level of anointing to release the captives. When the Babylonian king was empowered, the scripture did not say “anointed”; rather, it used the word “carried”. We may wonder why this is so. The truth is that (as the Holy Spirit has given me revelation of this portion), the security of God is sure upon His own people. No one could capture them if God did not allow or release them. This was what happened. God released them; He never needed to anoint the king of Babylon. However, if He had to send anybody to confront the powers of darkness, He will anoint the person for that work. God had to anoint King Cyrus, a foreigner, to disarm the king of Babylon. King Cyrus was the person who eventually released the Israelites to go back and rebuild the temple. He anointed Moses to disarm Pharaoh because the leprosy in Moses’ hand couldn’t allow him to do it. He anointed Jehu to confront Jezebel. To confront the spiritual powers of darkness, you need the winning anointing. This winning anointing does the following;

  1. Does not discriminate; anybody can be used.
  2. It goes before you; that is, it creates a path and footprint for you to follow.
  3. It destroys the existing leprosy in your life.
  4. It weakens the loins of powerful kings.
  5. It subdues nations; this means wherever the sole of your feet steps on, you possess it.
  6. It opens doors of opportunities; no one can shut them because God opened it. Peter enjoyed this grace in the prison.
  7. It establishes the footprints of God as your map.
  8. Crookedness is corrected and you have a straight course to follow.
  9. The insurmountable gates (powers) are blown off.
  10. Road blocks are removed.
  11. The enemies are dispossessed of their treasures and you become richer.
  12. The undiscovered wealth becomes exposed to you.
  13. It inscribes or engraves your name on the testimonies along the way.

Before the Apostles plunged out, the winning anoint had perfected their paths. To be a success in you divine assignment, you need the winning anointing. The winning anointing leads while you follow. If one loses focus of the leading of the winning anointing, the person becomes a ‘regret’ to the Lord just like Saul. The anointing looked back but did not find Saul, the anointed. Zeal and knowledge are not the winning anointing. The winning anointing is an experience. Moses had it, Jehu had it, the Apostles had it, you must have it.

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Isaiah49-52. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

GOD’S SERVANT

Bible In One Year-Day 299 (Sunday, October 26, 2014)

Commentary: Isaiah41-44. The calling of the Lord is in His righteousness and not in our righteousness. It is as He delights and not as the weight of our zeal. His assignment is according to His will and not of our will. The execution is by His Spirit and not in our ability. He makes us fit for the job He has for any of us. Whatever is of the Lord must be done by His Spirit; anything else will amount to nothing. No man on earth can do His work pleasingly and rightly without the help and the strength from His Spirit. If God calls you for an assignment, He rests the Spirit of that assignment on you.

Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold (strengthened); mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put My Spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.”

We can only know God’s servant by the fruit of His Spirit. The working of the Holy Spirit through us is what pleases God and not the work of righteousness of our flesh. To do good or to do evil, if it is of the flesh, it is not pleasing to God. However, to receive the Spirit of God to do ‘good’ but refusing to do it will be counted as sin before the Lord; this is rebellion. A servant of God will allow the Spirit of God to work through Him or Her; otherwise such will be called a rebellious servant. The term ‘servant’ could be used as a general term. But the presence of the spirit in that servant suggests whose servant he or she is. That spirit is expected to carry the likeness of the owner of that assignment to fulfill the assignment. That is, the spirit knows what the goal is and is prompting the recipient towards accomplishing the goal.

In the scripture above, the choosing of a person for a work in God’s vineyard is as a result of God’s delight; this is favor. When God fills such with His Spirit, this is grace. And by this grace such a person’s work is no more ordinary but divine and whoever fights against Him is fighting God. This was the message of Gamaliel in the book of Acts.

Acts 5:38-39 And now I say to you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.”

Many works look like that of God, but they aren’t but men’s’ wisdom; they don’t last even though they pull the crowd. The preaching could be full of wisdom, the teaching could be loaded with knowledge, but once it is not genuinely of the Spirit of God, it will not give life and will not last the test of time. Dr. Gamaliel in the Book of Acts (chapter5) made us to understand that there were many works that look godly and pulled the crowd, but never lasted.

Acts 5:36-37 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought. After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.”

If the work is of God, people may succeed in killing the man, but cannot succeed in killing the project or assignment; as a matter of fact, it will ignite the fire (Spirit) of continuity in people just as Jesus said.

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say to you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”

The gospel grew after the death of Jesus. It further exploded as the Apostles were being killed one after the other; none of them died well, but their works lived after them. These are genuine servants of God.

What spirit are you using to work? If deception is found in your work, definitely, God is not in it but the father of liars, Satan.

John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Whoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.”

The Servant referred to in Isa42:1 received the Spirit to carry out justice on the gentiles. By what follows in that passage, he could not be discouraged but persistently press forward until the assignment is accomplished. Servants with the Spirit of God don’t please the world because they don’t have that spirit. It is not for Him to announce Himself in public or advertise His work; rather, His work cannot keep silent but will announce Him. As much as the rulers tried to kill the work of Jesus, it grew prevailingly, even in the hands of the Apostles.

Acts 19:20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”

Perhaps you have been known for notoriety or for other bad things, all you need is God’s delight and your story shall change. Perhaps you have been known for somebody to avoid and nobody wants to identify with you because of your past, all you need is the unforgettable ‘journey to Damascus’ (Acts9). Saul of Tarsus engaged on that journey and His life never remained the same. At the border of Damascus, Jesus was waiting for him with a life changing package. The light that broke the back bone of darkness in his life ushered him into the city of Damascus. He had no sight but was full of light (a life different from what he used to have had entered into him). Hitherto, the zeal in him was without light and life and that was why he was killing innocent people about. But after this glorious encounter, his zeal received light and life and he began to minister life to the dying soul. By this, he was able to fulfill Isa42:1.

Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.”

This is the light you need and darkness will never have a place to stay in your life anymore. Paul was able to fulfill it because he followed Jesus. If you follow Jesus genuinely with your heart, you will fulfill all that Jesus fulfilled.

John 8:12 Then spoke Jesus again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

John 1:4-5 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

The Holy Spirit is the light of life. Without the Spirit of God, a person gets tired, frustrated and disappointed. One cannot be contented in doing the work of God without His Spirit. Such gets offended easily. Such seeks the praise and approval of men. It is not difficult for such to quit the race.

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Isaiah45-48. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD

Bible In One Year-Day 298 (Saturday, October 25, 2014)

Commentary: Isaiah37-40. King Hezekiah went through two difficult times; the threat of Sennacherib, king of Assyria, and the message of death from the Lord. He showed His mightiness to Sennacherib because of his blasphemy.

Isaiah 37:36-38 Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh. And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.”

On the other hand, He showed His faithfulness to Hezekiah as a God that does not despise the prayer of a righteous heart.

Isaiah 38:2-5 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.”

The trials of the righteous are not the same as that of the wicked though it looks alike. That of the righteous always ends well but that of the wicked ends in destruction.

Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”

God is watching over men and He knows those who are His.

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Isaiah41-44. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

SIN NO MORE

Bible In One Year-Day 297 (Friday, October 24, 2014)

Commentary: Isaiah33-36. To plunder and be treacherous for any reason is a great sin before the Lord. Doing these as work is like piling up loans in advance and the payback is very painful; only the mercy of God can give grace during payback. You could be born again after these practices and repented doing them, the payback is still sure because God will not despise the cry of the righteous; especially if the act of plundering was towards the righteous.

Isaiah 33:1 Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.”

To explain this verse, we need to look at it using a biblical example. Let’s consider Jacob’s attitude towards his brother, Esau. That was an unrighteous way of plundering and treachery. He escaped from his brother’s wrath for 20 years; as he grew bigger, so Esau also grew larger in size. After 20 years, they had to meet, Jacob paid back the hard way; he gave out almost all he had. He even subjected his household members to danger which they knew nothing about. He called Esau his Lord, Gen32. He was plundered by his uncle, Laban. His peace was plundered through treachery by his own children at old age.

Genesis 37:34-35 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days. And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.”

Jacob’s plundering was an unrighteous plundering which he had to payback. Employees cheating employers, employers cheating employees will payback. Friends practicing treachery will pay back the hard way. Citizens that are disloyal to the nation will payback. Those cheating their countries by evading tax will payback. Citizens cheating through false tax return claims will payback. Pastors cheating the congregation will payback the hard way. You cannot be doing this and expect to prosper in the same country.

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

The only thing that is able to remove the consequence of unrighteous plundering is the mercy of God; this is purely of God’s discretion. To forgive is different from to have mercy. Forgiveness will only give grace to go through the payback period and on the last day there will not be the remembrance of it; though the punishment might still be there.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

On the other hand, God’s mercy is superior to forgiveness; it will remove the consequences as well as forgive and one becomes totally free. However, this issue of mercy is absolutely of God’s discretion.

Exodus 33:19 And he said, …; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.”

Truly the Lord is merciful, but it is absolutely at His discretion. The state of your heart determines which way to go. He is still faithful to all His words.

Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”

Genuine repentance is really needed to instigate His goodness towards us. SIN NO MORE.

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Isaiah37-40. Keep the fire of burning and alive.
