THE GLORY OF ALL LANDS

Commentary: Ezekiel19-21. God’s concern in these chapters centers mostly on the disobedience of the Israelites. The only way people could know who belongs to God is their obedience to His judgments, Ezek20:20. Obedience to His word will ever give life to whoever does it.

Ezekiel 20:11 “And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.

Death came into the world because of disobedience and death is retained in the world by disobedience (the power of sin). The sufferings of mankind are due to disobedience. Every rebellion will lead to death unless repentance is quickly effected.

Ezekiel 18:32 “For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

In many areas we are so rebellious. It starts from what is good for us. God hears prayers and to them who could not pray due to problems beyond them, He shows compassion. He takes actions in response to what will benefit us most, just as He said about Jerusalem in our last discussion, Ezekiel16:4-6. Unfortunately, we think another place is better. The land to which God led the Israelites was searched out by God.

Ezekiel 20:6 “In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied (searched) for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:

This land was described as “the glory of all lands”. Every one of us has this type of land for the fulfillment of our destiny. Joseph’s “glory of all lands” was Pharaoh’s palace, Daniel had his in Babylon. Where is yours? This is what we need to seek the face of God for. A lot are not in their own “glory of all lands”, a spiritual land where milk and honey are flowing but are struggling in the land God has not sent them, yet they are expecting result, i.e. they want God to confirm what He has not commanded, Ezekiel13:6. God is not in the place He has not sent His word. His grace is only where He has ordered His word or where His will is; career, ministry, marriage, country etc. many marriages are not joined together by God, therefore His grace and peace are not there; no amount of counseling can sustain such marriages. His word only works where He sends it;

Psalms 107:20 “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

There is succor, healing and deliverance where He has sent His word. We can only be connected to that place called “the glory of all lands” through OBEDIENCE to His word.

Isaiah 1:19 “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

Are you sick and praying for healing, jobless and praying for a job, or single and praying for a partner? Seek first His WILL to do, and then your lines shall fall in pleasant places. It may be that if you got the job, you might despise the connection to the “glory of all lands” if it comes. God will only maintain your lot where He has provided for you. That is your heritage here on earth.

Psalms 16:5-6 “The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

One of the passages that awesomely describe the benefits of obeying Him is Isaiah58:8-9.

Isaiah 58:8-9 “Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Ezekiel122-24. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

BEAUTY FOR ASHES

Commentary: Ezekiel16-18. Jerusalem, as we read, was a clear picture of the state of man before Jesus walked on earth. Chapter16 is a chapter that indirectly tells the story of our salvation in Christ. The origin of Jerusalem was a mess, spiritually and physically. She was born to callous parents who had no heart or feeling for life; she was left to die, probably, because she was a girl.

Ezekiel 16:4 “And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.

At this state, she had nobody to pity her. This was the evil spirit that welcomed Jerusalem; the “spirit of no pity”. Her cry for help moved nobody who saw her and death was breast-feeding her; sorrow and affliction embraced her. But when God saw her condition, He was moved with compassion (this is God’s nature) and He spoke what was needed at that hour into her; LIFE.

Ezekiel 16:6 “And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live.

May the Lord voice out the needed word to you in your situation in the name of Jesus Christ (Amen). God took over the care of Jerusalem. Whatever God lays hand on will definitely come out beautiful (your life shall experience that handwork of God, in Jesus name). Jerusalem became unusually beautiful as she matured to womanhood. Her nakedness was covered with the wings of the Almighty. She was thoroughly washed in the water, anointed with oil and adorned in beautiful raiment and attires. The beauty of Jerusalem was unmatched, unrivaled and described as PERFECT because it was the Lord’s doing; this was her pride and fame. To describe Jerusalem in summary, she was the Lord’s decoration; there was not a part of her that any man could give negative comment as far as beauty was concerned. As a matter of fact, men could not ask for her love because of the beauty; she was too beautiful for any man to court (verse25, 33-34).

Ezekiel 16:13-14 “Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.

Unfortunately, the pride of her beauty took over her. She set what God had given her as an idol and started giving attention to it and not to God. What God gave to her was for the Lord’s glory to manifest but she turned them against God. She idolized materials in place of God.

Ezekiel 16:32 “But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband!

In God’s judgment she became a proverb in the land, “like mother, like daughter”

Ezekiel 16:44 “Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use this proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.

Obviously, her mother must be a harlot considering the manner of her birth; the spirit of her mother had taken over. This is an example of evil pattern sponsored by familiar spirit and generational curse. It was something in Jerusalem’s family line (verse 45-49), but she excelled them all in corruption. Her sin and abominable acts uncovered her nakedness and broke the covenant God entered into with her before now.

Ezekiel 16:59 “For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant.

God, being so faithful will always consider His own part of the covenant; he considered a new and everlasting covenant with Jerusalem through atonement for her sin.

Ezekiel 16:60 “Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.

Ezekiel 16:62-63 “And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.

God covered Adam and Eve with His glory and they were not ashamed, but as soon as they sinned, the jealousy of God (God’s glory) departed; they saw their nakedness and were ashamed. The plan of God for the salvation of man started through Abraham and is accomplished in Christ Jesus. His blood became atonement for us and new and everlasting covenant was established in place of the old, Hebrews8.

Hebrews 7:22 “By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

Hebrews 8:13 “In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

God’s desire is for the sinner to turn from the wicked ways and come back to Him. Sin will always uncover a man’s nakedness and break covenants. Christians are supposed to be the happiest people on earth. This could be true only if one is genuinely in Christ. To be genuine in Christ is to abstain from any sinful acts that would bring corruption of the soul. A corrupt soul cannot be a residence for the righteousness of God, the Holy Spirit; He will not identify with filthiness. You need to be washed with water (baptism by immersion) and anointed with oil (baptism of the Holy Spirit).

Ezekiel 16:9 “Then washed I thee with water; yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil.

John 3:5 “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say to thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Anything contrary to the fullness of the Holy Spirit is ashes, but Jesus Christ is GOD’S BEAUTY in our lives. Without Him we obtain nothing different from everlasting shame. Inherited spiritual problems, material acquisitions, academic and political pride etc are all ashes without Christ. When you receive Him, just as God worked on Jerusalem unto beauty, He beautifies you with Himself.

Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Ezekiel19-21. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

REVELATION OF THE FLESH AND OF THE BLOOD (FALSE PROPHECIES)

Commentary: Ezekiel13-15. Chapter13 is quite interesting. It starts by identifying false prophets and define them as those who speak their own mind and follow the falsehood of their spirit. They are likened to foxes in the desert. Foxes are known to prey on tender things such as grapes (Song of Solomon2:15) thereby spoiling the vine. When in the desert, they sniff and dig holes for smaller animals. False prophets prey on uninformed and ignorant people by lying to them. They exploit those who are over desperately in need of help by telling them lies of false visions and still expect God to confirm what He has not commanded.

Ezekiel 13:6 “They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.

The prophet remarked two ways of futility; the prophecy from the heart of man and the vision from the spirit of man. These are ways the ignorant are being deceived into error. If anyone receives such prophecies, it corrupts the soul and nothing works again. It is likened to what happened in the Garden of Eden. The words of Satan brought corruption into the soul of man. These are what Jesus refers to as the revelation of the flesh and of the blood..

Matthew 16:17 “And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon-Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.

The other prophecy and vision are those from God. God only confirms those that come from Him but ignores that which comes from any other source. However, if those which come from other sources are spoken in His name, He becomes concerned and gets provoked because it means He is identified with lies (Satan’s glory).

Ezekiel 13:8 “Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity (nonsense), and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.

False prophets always say what you want to hear. They existed in the past and still exist now.

1 Kings 22:11-12 “And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them. And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king’s hand.

We need to be careful in seeking for prophecies. The victims of false prophecies are those who seek for what pleases them and not the will of God. False prophecies will be given according to the idol in the heart, i.e. a set mind or unrepentant heart seeking for God’s mind. Chapter14 makes us to understand that making heaven isn’t a joint venture. Noah, Daniel and Job were men identified with righteousness. But God said if He was going to carry out His four judgment on the land and these men were in it, they could only save themselves and not any of their household members;

Ezekiel 14:20 “Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

Path of righteousness is absolutely important in Christian race. Everything must be done in righteousness. Even in our seeking God’s kingdom, we must seek His righteousness (only His WILL is righteous) also.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Our Christian race could only be profitable if it is done in His righteousness and not our righteousness. Our righteousness can get us nowhere.

Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

John the Baptist tried to convince Jesus out of it but He refused and said it is our duty and part of the faith to fulfill all righteousness.

Matthew 3:15 “And Jesus answering said to him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

Let us not joke with sin, beloved. A sinful soul is not a righteous soul but instrument in the hand of the devil.

Romans 2:26 “Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

Romans 4:5 “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Romans 4:13 “For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Romans 6:18 “Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”

God has righteousness which we must crave for, without which we cannot meet with Him. This righteousness is the righteousness of Christ which is only obtainable by His Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes into us, He brings the righteousness of God’s kingdom into us and that is what God recognizes.

Romans 14:17 “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Ezekiel116-18. Keep the fire of burning and alive.

THE TRIAL OF THE CALLED

Commentary: Jer19-21. Jeremiah was used to taking prophetic actions according to God’s instructions. He faced serious verbal persecutions from the people because of his uncomfortable prophecies. The summary of the prophecy of chapter19 was demonstrated in prophetic action;

Jeremiah 19:10-11 “Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee, And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter’s vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.

This particular prophecy invoked serious rage which led to physical humiliation under the supervision of Pashhur, a priest in charge of the house of the Lord who had been deceiving people with false prophecies. This was the same man Jeremiah reported to God in Jer14: 13-15 “Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place. Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: … By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.

This prophecy stuck to Pashhur in Jer20:6. Jeremiah was so embittered that he accused God of seducing him into the ministry he found himself. To him, the more he spoke God’s word, the more he suffers attack from the people; people mocked him and he could not stand the reproach any longer. At a point, he decided not to talk again, either in the name of the Lord or otherwise. He tried to hold the words back in his heart but he could not because of the fire in it;

Jeremiah 20:9 “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.”

It was so horrible that he wished he was not born. He went to the extent of cursing the day he was born. What Jeremiah faced at this time is what is called Ministerial challenges. There are ways in which God makes His ministers grow up. As we discussed in the earlier postings, there is no double promotion in the school of the Holy Spirit, you go through every course or subject in detail. And this is to refine you towards maturity so that even at old age you become fat and flourishing;

2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;”

Challenges in ministry are not to kill you but they are cautions for you to think very well before any leap. When God told Jeremiah that “they will fight against you but they shall not prevail”, that statement has cautionary remarks of the challenges he was facing. The only thing was that he did not know to what extent the fight would be and perhaps that was what caused his weariness. God’s word to us is always a full package; what to do, what we shall face, preparation of our hearts to withstand oppositions and assurance of victory. Wherever God sends you, He makes provision for help to withstand every challenge in that course. Through affliction we could measure the root of your strength in Jesus;

Mark 4:17 “And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

A genuine prophet of God suffers persecutions but his words exonerate him with time. To be a good example and a blessing to men, it is not by mouth but by active involvement in what you have said;

James 5:10 “Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.”

Beloved outside of ministry or destiny there are trials and within ministry or destiny there are trials. There is no divine provision for help in trials outside of ministry or destiny because where the word of the Lord is not, God Himself is not there. The trial that will end in joy is that which carries the rod of prayer, shield of patience, spirit of obedience and the garment of humility.

Let us ask for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. May the Lord lead us through our trying times to the glory of His Holy name. Our reading for today is Jer22-24. Keep the fire burning and alive

Romans 8:18 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

THE OTHER SIDE OF JESUS (8)

Bible In One Year-Day 317 (Thursday, November 13, 2014)

Commentary: Acts25-28. When God called Abram out of idolatry, He promised him many blessings as he obeyed His call. These promises eventually became a covenant. As far as God is concerned, His promises are just the same as His covenant.

2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yes, and in him Amen, to the glory of God by us.”

His faithfulness is what makes them be the same even if promise and covenant are two different things. This means, in essence, that the spirit behind a promise and a covenant matters. The evil spirit stays faithful to the course of the evil covenant while that of God remains faithful to God’s word. This covenant gave hope to Abraham and his descendants. This covenant became the hope of the descendants; hope of glory. The descendants documented the policies binding the covenant in books. Each time they read the scripture, they got hope that God will fulfill His promises to Abraham their father. This was Paul’s testimony before King Agrippa.

Acts 26:6-7 And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God to our fathers: To which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope’s sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.”

Abraham descendants never knew that what they hoped to attain by serving God day and night was Jesus Christ. But Paul’s experience of the reality of this promise on his journey to Damascus totally transformed him from darkness into light. His life before the journey was absolutely in darkness even though he was well learned in the theory of the promises and the laws. To be well read in the scripture is very good but it is not the life of the other side of Jesus. The life of the other side of Jesus is a thing of experience just as Paul testified before the King, Acts26.

Acts 26:13-14 At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking to me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”

Paul mentioned two things in his experience; the light and the voice. The light destroyed the power of darkness and the voice exploded in two in him; the Spirit and the Life. Through the light he discovered the Way, and through the voice the Truth was made known to him and the Life in the voice gave him eternal life that swallowed up death in victory. The moment he received the revelation knowledge of the truth, all he had intellectually acquired (as spoken and written by the prophets) became irrelevant to him.

1 Corinthians 13:8-10 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.”

Paul had vast knowledge of the word and knows much of prophecies. But when the perfect word from the God who sent the prophets came, all he had known vanished and a new knowledge and experience was given to him. The appearance of Jesus perfected the entirety of Paul even though he was still a sinner; this is grace at work.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Paul was a very perfect model of an unimaginably transformed life by the other side of Jesus.

Acts 26:15-16 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared to thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear to thee;”

Once the Word enters you, GRACE and TRUTH changes everything in and about you; grace to overcome sin and truth to walk in light. Paul, hitherto, walked in darkness with all his intellectual acquisitions. But the enterance of the Word changed everything he ever knew. He had a better understanding of what he knew. Without the other side of Jesus in you, all the degrees of Bible Colleges will kill and lead people into error just as Saul operated before his encounter with the Light.

When Jesus walked on earth, He was everything to anyone that came in contact with Him, even while in the womb; John the Baptist received his baptism from Jesus while in the womb. While His disciples were in the peril of the waters, He walked on the Sea to save the sinking Peter. At the initial part of His ministry, He was in a wedding and after the wine of their joy was exhausted, He converted water to renew their joy. Jesus can use anything to ensure the joy of His own is full. He used the mouth of a fish to pay the tax for His disciples. Dead Lazarus was restored to life and he, at a time, calmed the Sea. Whatever you have read about Him in the gospels is still in vogue on a greater measure of grace in the epistles. He has not stopped His work on earth but doing it By His Spirit. The other side of Jesus is;

  1. The “Another Comforter”
  2. The Helper
  3. The God in us
  4. The Sufficient grace
  5. The Strength in our weaknesses
  6. The Glory that re-brands our lives
  7. The Anointing that is working through us
  8. The Anointing that teaches
  9. The Inner Life
  10. The Divine being in us.
  11. The Law of the Spirit of life that sets us free from the law of sin and death.
  12. The Greater One in you
  13. The God that worked Himself into us
  14. The Power of the Apostles
  15. The Treasure in earthen vessel
  16. The Life that death cannot kill; the serpent’s poison reduced and killed the first Adam but could not kill Apostle Paul because the second Adam has worked Himself into him, Acts28.

He is God in you. God the Father worked in Jesus and Jesus as His Spirit is in you, therefore, you have God in you.

John 14:20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.”

Beloved, the other side of Jesus is the life of His Spirit in your spirit. The nature of that Spirit is what the scripture refers to as the fruit of the Spirit; these are the characteristics of Jesus. Once He is fully resident in your spirit, you are changed and rebranded into His nature and you start manifesting His character in this mortal body.

Galatians 5:22-24 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”

Jesus is the new law that breaks the backbone of the law of sin and death. Once you receive Him into your spirit, you no longer walk in the flesh but in the light of that Spirit because you have understanding. The food of your spirit is the word of God which renews and strengthens you day by day

\2 Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”

This life is given to us to glorify God, not only when things are good, but also in our difficult times, in sickness and in good health, in pain and in comfort. There should be no moment of sadness in us.

The book of Acts really shows us how a life is transformed when Jesus comes in as His Spirit. Many believe Him but refuse to receive Him in their spirit. They are only emotional and religious in their receiving Him. The evidence of His presence in us is the transformed character.

Galatians 5:16 “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:”

We become conscious of sin and abstain from doing it, even when under duress. Only by the presence of the other side of Jesus in us could we have hope of His glory.

Colossians 1:27 “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”

Let us seek for the old path where we could find rest. Let us listen to the trumpet’s sound, wherewith we could escape the calamity to come. Our reading for today is Romans1-4. Keep the fire of prayer burning and alive on the altar of love.
